Turkey is a treat all year round, however, in the next few months more turkey will be eaten in Canada than at any other time of the year. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's dinners will all be planned around this delicious fowl. The success of your turkey dinner depends not only on the cooking but also on the recipe is a traditional classic and has been passed down from generation to generation. Enjoy!

BREAD STUFFING – suitable for 5 to 6 kg Turkey

¼ cup minced onion 1 cup butter or margarine
2 tsp salt
1 tsp thyme leaves
½ cup popcorn kernels
1 ½ cups chopped celery
9 cups soft bread cubes
½ tsp crushed sage leaves
½ tsp pepper
 

Using a large skillet, heat onion, celery and butter until onion is tender. Stir in about ⅓ of the bread cubes. Turn into a deep bowl, add remainder of contents and toss. May be moistened with a little beer.

Stuff turkey just before roasting. Place turkey in shallow roasting pan and cover with foil. Cook at 350° F. Relax and enjoy a couple of beers. When the popcorn pops and blows the ass out of the turkey … it’s done!
